Um...why?

I ganked this without remorse from Andrea the Nerd.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. -- Genesis 3:16

And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean.--Leviticus 15:19

But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die.--Deuteronomy 22:20-21

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.--1 Corinthians 11:7

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak.... And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home. -- 1 Corinthians 14:34-35

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.--1 Timothy 2:11-12

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.--1 Timothy 2:14-15

No man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins.--Revelation 14:3-4

...I don't get it.

(P.S. Yes, I realize that this is a selection across multiple religions, but as the majority of those in the US are Christians, it is still quite appropriate.)

Spot on. I've never understood how any competent female (well, how any competent person, but especially women) could subscribe to such a flagrantly and historically sexist religion. This is a testament to the sultifying powers of faith.
